Power of Possible 3

(Friday)

In this lesson, we identified the importance of believing in what’s possible.

Every day, companies are creating new technologies, products, services, and devices. With each passing day, the boundaries of what is possible continue to expand.

If you want to be a part of this exciting future, you need to develop the Power of Possible mindset.

Adopting or developing the Power of Possible mindset is the secret weapon of the highly successful. Those who excel in school, the workplace, and life don’t let doubt—whether their own or others’—stop them from trying.

Remember these key points:

• Allow yourself to focus on possibilities rather than obstacles. This will help you develop a growth mindset.

• A growth mindset enables you to believe that you can learn new skills and information.

• Never neglect or underestimate the power of your imagination.

Resourceful

Resourcefulness is defined as the ability to find quick and clever ways to overcome difficulties. In connection with being resourceful, you may have heard phrases like “thinking outside the box” or “drawing outside of the lines.”

How resourceful are you? How creative are you when it comes to problem-solving? Does using your imagination help you approach problems from a completely different angle?

Watch the video and come up with some imaginative and creative solutions.

NOTE: Try imagining some scenarios for your friends or family to solve.

Have a Plan

If you believe something is possible, the next step is to create a plan. What will you do to accomplish the task? The same applies to self-improvement—you need to have a plan.

For example, let’s say you always procrastinate before a big test. You wait until the night before the exam to cram and study. This habit of procrastination causes you a lot of stress and anxiety. You might think it’s impossible to change this habit, but with the right mindset and a plan, you can break it and develop new, more productive habits.

Take a moment to think about one or two negative habits, qualities, mindsets, or traits you would like to change. Be clear about why you’ve identified them as negative, how they impact you, and what positive replacements you can make. Then, create a habit plan using the steps below.

STEPS FOR CHANGE

  • Whether it’s a goal you’ve set for yourself, a bad habit you want to change, or a positive quality you want to develop, be open to the possibility of success. If you don’t believe something is possible, you won’t even try. On the other hand, if you believe it is possible, who knows what you may achieve?

  • Developing a growth mindset—which means believing you have the ability to learn and improve—begins with the belief that anything is possible. By adopting both mindsets, you can enhance your ability to innovate. Being able to think outside the box to find solutions that no one else has thought of will make you invaluable to your employer or any business you may start.

  • Don’t be fooled—imagination isn’t just for kids. It’s a powerful tool found in the skill set of every successful creator, inventor, and valued employee. Take time to ignite your imagination. Remember, everything that was ever created had to be imagined first. That’s the power of imagination.

Thought of the day.

“Imagination is the beginning of creation.” - George Bernard Shaw

What is possible?

What are you capable of accomplishing? What will you do with your talents, gifts, and skills? Whose lives will you touch? What contributions will you make to science, math, the arts, literature, music, technology, or medicine? The possibilities are endless—your possibilities are endless!
